The first TEDDY Network General Assembly was held in Castellaneta Marina (Taranto, Italy) on the 3rd of October 2014.
The meeting was an occasion to share the scientific activities and experiences performed by the partners:
- TEDDY experience in developing paediatric research in Europe and Horizon 2020 (A. Ceci, Consorzio per Valutazioni Biologiche e Farmacologiche, Fondazione per la Ricerca Farmacologica Gianni Benzi Onlus)
- From TEDDY to CloSed – UKERs pathway in the framework of European Research Funding (S. Botzenhardt, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen)
- Paediatric Clinical Trials in Albania: in the absence of a regulation, Big Pharma give way to research-driven EU funded projects: the safety-efficacy paediatric clinical trial in thalassaemia (M. Kreka, Mother Teresa University Hospital)
- A Joint Degree in Paediatric Pharmacology and Clinical trials in children: an initiative of GRiP – the Global Research in Paediatrics Network of Excellence (P. Rossi, Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù)
- Promoting a cost-efficient strategy for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across Europe – PASDE: a new proposal under Horizon 2020 developed into the TEDDY Network (A. Tarpan, Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation)
- GRiP and EnprEMA, the European Networks for Paediatric Research (C. Giaquinto,

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to present research experiences and proposals developed by TEDDY collaborators. Some of the contributions proposed were chosen for the oral presentation:

- National systematic approach to the management of asplenia: the set up of the Italian Network on Asplenia and preliminary report on the first asplenic patient census (M. Casale, Azienda Ospedaliera A. Cardarelli)

- The antibiotic resistance and prescribing in european children (ARPEC) project: Participation of the Italian Paediatric Hospitals to a collaborative study (M. Romanengo, Fondazione PENTA Onlus)
- Paediatric needs – are we going the right direction (S. Botzenhardt, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen)
- The ethical considerations for clinical trials on medicinal product conduced with the paediatric population – time for changes (M. Migdal, Children’s Memorial Health Institute)
The meeting closed with the appointment of Network Scientific and Coordinating Bodies.
