iCAN (international Children Advisory Network) fourth annual Research & Advocacy Summit will take place on July 9-13, 2018 in Edinburgh and for the first time the members of KIDS Bari, the first Italian YPAG (Young Patient Advisory Group), and KIDS Albania will participate to this important meeting. KIDS Bari, kicked off in June 2017 and KIDS Albania, launched in September 2017, currently are going through a dense training program that foresees lectures on four main pillar: biomedicine, basic research, clinical research, humanization of healthcare. Youths are also involved in some advisory activities that give them the possibility to provide their opinion on the comprehensibility of surveys and consent/assent forms for children.
Seven youths of KIDS Bari and eight children of KIDS Albania have been elected by the members as representatives of the groups to participate to iCAN meeting and will have the possibility to see close the activities of the network and get in touch with the members of the other YPAGs spread worldwide.
The summit, in fact, will provide the chance to bring together youths, families and professionals who will learn more about paediatric health, medicine, clinical research and innovation by sharing children’s voice in an impactful way. Approximately 250 attendees will be present at the summit, from youth advisors and families to industry professionals and scientific leaders.
