The CP4EUROPE (Strengthening National Child Participation Frameworks and Action in Europe) is a project funded by the European Commission under the DG JUST – Rights, Equality and Citizenship (REC) Programme. It was kicked-off on 1 April 2021 and will last 24 months until 31 March 2023.
Annagrazia Altavilla, TEDDY Chair and Mariangela Lupo, TEDDY Networking and Patients Advocacy Manager, were appointed ad personam as experts of the Council of Europe to participate in this joint project providing expertise in ethical, legal issues and in children empowerment in the biomedical sector.
Children are in the core of European policies and initiatives and children participation in decision process and initiatives is one of the priorities of Europe. TEDDY matches at best these objectives as one of its main activities is engaging children and young patients in decisions related to clinical research and healthcare.
The Project is coordinated by the Council of Europe and it is implemented in 5 partners countries: the Czech Republic, Iceland, Portugal, Slovenia and Finland and at the European level. The main expected impact of the project is that children across Europe find multiple and innovative opportunities to participate in decision-making processes through stronger child participation mechanisms.
CP4Europe is expected to support authorities and institutions in:
- Assessing child participation at national and European levels.
- Developing innovative child participation tools at national and European levels.
- Creating a European child participation leadership network.
- Preparing Child Safeguarding Policies.
