The OrphaDev4Kids project (OD4K)

The OrphaDev4Kids project (OD4K)

OrphaDev4Kids (OD4K) aims to address the issue of insufficient Orphan Medical devices, especially in fields of prominent unmet needs (e.g., cardiology), for use in the paediatric population.

In this project TEDDY aims to implement a complex innovation ecosystem in the orphan and paediatric medical devices (MDs). TEDDY will actively participate by engaging in ethical and legal activities and being responsible for creating a dedicated Paediatric Experts Committee (PEC) to provide their perspective on medical devices development.

TEDDY’s role is to create and support a Paediatric Experts Committee (PEC), to define the therapeutic needs of children for the project’s case studies. Also, ethical, legal and regulatory advice will be delivered in document preparation for clinical study submission by the group.

The project General Assembly was held on the November 6th of this year online, where TEDDY presented the list of candidates for the PEC. The Assembly officially approved the list, setting the stage for TEDDY to continue with its task and follow on with activities.
