A member of TEDDY Ethics working group is part of EPTRI Ethical Advisory Board

Annagrazia Altavilla, Lawyer and Professor at Espace Ethique Méditerranéen at Aix-Marseille Université, and coordinator of the TEDDY Working group on Ethical Issues in paediatric research, has been invited to be part of the Ethical Advisory Board (EAB) setup within the framework of the European Paediatric Translational Research Infrastructure (EPTRI).

EPTRI is a European funded project coordinated by CVBF (Consorzio per Valutazioni Biologiche e Farmacologiche), aimed to create the framework for a new Research Infrastructure (RI) intended to enhance technology-driven paediatric research in drug discovery and early development phases to be translated into clinical research and paediatric use of medicines.

The project foresees the establishment of the EAB with the aim to supervise all project activities and grant they are aligned with the relevant ethical and regulatory requirements with particular reference to data protection, subjects’ privacy, confidentiality. The member of the EAB are eminent and independent personalities with a proven track record in areas relevant to the ethical dimension of biomedical research. Board composition ensures, indeed, the representation of different and complementary expertise (legal, ethical, scientific), partners type (management/governance, academic, research centres) and geographical distribution.

TEDDY is also involved in the EPTRI project by contributing to the governance model definition and the context analysis. It also supports the activities aimed at promoting patients’ engagement as well the design of the thematic platform dedicated to the integration of the expertise on innovative technologies in paediatric drug development with clinical studies.
