Even this year TEDDY Network supports the Rare Disease Day, the thirteenth edition of the international initiative promoting awareness-raising activities on Rare Disease and that will take place on 29 February 2020. The first Rare Disease Day was celebrated in 2008 on 29 February, a ‘rare’ date that happens only once every four years. Ever since then, Rare Disease Day has taken place on the last day of February, a month known for having a ‘rare’ number of days.
The campaign started as a European event and has progressively become a world phenomenon, with the USA joining in 2009 and participation in over 100 countries all over the world in 2019.
TEDDY Network is always proactive in the promotion of paediatric pharmacological research with a particular interest in the populations and research fields requiring more attention like the rare diseases. Moreover, TEDDY Network is among the beneficiaries of the European Joint Programme on Rare Disease (EJPRD), aimed to create a comprehensive, sustainable system allowing virtuous circle between research, care and medical innovation in the rare diseases field. For this reason, TEDDY welcomed enthusiastically this annual initiative promoted by EURORDIS that foresees the participation of more than hundreds of organizations from countries and regions all over the world. It is friend of Rare Disease Day and it will show its supports on its official website and social networks.
