The Committee on Bioethics (DH-BIO) – Council of Europe released “DH-BIO Statement on human rights considerations relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic”, recalling the fundamental principles, based on the respect for human dignity and human rights, which must guide medical decisions and practices in the context of the current crisis. It does not focus specifically on children but it recalls a number of legal principles related e.g. the collection and processing of health related data and access to health care underlining the needs to protect respect the rights of the persons undergoing research, aimed at developing appropriate therapeutic and preventive measures, included in the Oviedo Convention and the Additional protocol on Biomedical Research.
