PUBLIC CONSULTATION: BLOOD, TISSUES, AND CELLS (BTC) FOR MEDICAL TREATMENTS & THERAPIES – REVISED EU RULES

The EU is revising the rules on scientific and technological developments regarding blood, tissues, and cells for medical treatments and therapies. On 21 January 2021, the Commission launched a public consultation to collect the views of all interested citizens and organisations that will remain open until 15 April 2021.

The consultation concerns an initiative for an improved EU legal framework for the safety and quality of blood, tissues and cells used in transfusion, transplantation, and medically assisted reproduction. These are healthcare services that impact on the lives of millions of EU citizens, both as donors of essential substances and patients that need treatment with those substances.

If you wish to contribute to this consultation, you can fill in the online questionnaire available under the ‘Responding to the questionnaire’ in the Consultation page.
