We are proud to announce that the Council of Europe has released the Guide to children’s participation in decisions about their health. The Guide was prepared by a group of government and independent experts, who included Dr Annagrazia Altavilla, past chair of TEDDY Network.
A draft of the guide was submitted for consultation to key stakeholders (i.e., Council of Europe delegates, representatives of scientific societies, research organisations, healthcare institutions, etc.) and preliminarily discussed through the focus group methodology with a group of children aged 12-18 from the Young Persons Advisory Groups under the TEDDY umbrella, including KIDS Bari, KIDS Albania, KIDS Hellas and other adolescents from France, Latvia, Malta, and Switzerland.
The text was revised and enriched based on the contributions received during the consultations. TEDDY Kids was also engaged with the COE to develop “Have your say!”, a video on children’s right to participate in the decision-making process in health. The video, created by children for children, is essential for amplifying their voices among peers.
