about us
TEDDY is a pioneering organisation in paediatric research, advocating for children’s rights and well-being through engagement with stakeholders
TEDDY ‘European Network of Excellence for Paediatric Research’ funded in 2005 under the European Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), to promote research and development of children-tailored medicine responding to the children’s needs. By the end of the funded period, TEDDY became a legal entity and since then has been operating voluntarily as an independent research organisation, including partners from several countries (both from the EU and non-EU). With the acquisition of the legal status, the organisation opened up its network to additional countries and strengthened contacts with relevant stakeholders, including patients, companies and regulators.
To raise awareness of paediatric research issues and encourage children’s participation in decisions about their health, TEDDY has developed age-appropriate information and educational tools, contributing to the empowerment of children and paediatric patients. TEDDY is actively promoting consultative initiatives and the creation of Young Persons Advisory Groups (YPAG) across Europe through the TEDDY KIDS Network.
TEDDY is a member of the Coordinating Group of the European Network of Pediatric Research at the EMA (EnprEMA), a registered network at the European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance (ENCePP) and a permanent member of the ACT-EU Multistakeholders’ Advisory Group representing the paediatric research community.
TEDDY is also a partner in the OrphaDev4Kids project, started on July 1, 2024, to promote the development of paediatric medical devices for orphan conditions, within EPTRI, the European Paediatric Translational Research Infrastructure, organised in several thematic research platforms, including the medical devices one, and covering all phases of biomedical research under a paediatric perspective, from discovery to early clinical phases.
